I happened to look outside around Noon yesterday and saw a medium size bird in my back yard ... on the grass ... which is pretty unusual.
At the time, it was blocking the rabbit ... so I was like WTF ... but then after pulling out the binoculars, I saw that it had a fresh kill and was having rabbit for lunch - too bad I wasn't looking just a few minutes earlier. I grabbed the camera and got some pictures ... but the bird was very skittish as even with me being a hundred feet away (big telephoto lens), it "saw" me and flew off. It came back in the late afternoon and it had moved the rabbit carcass about 20' and was having dinner. Early this morning, I saw it out there again - I guess rabbit is "breakfast of champions" - but even though I never went into the back yard, it again saw me taking pictures from the front yard and picked up what was left and flew off ... so LOL I don't have to dispose of the "remains" as I just have two piles of leftover fur. Too bad I didn't setup a webcam near the carcass to watch the whole thing - darn!
